How it works
1. Measure each room
Length × width in feet. 12 ft 6 in can be typed as 12'6" or 12.5. Add every room, or type the total area.
2. Add cutting wastage for the layout
- Straight 8%
- Slabs laid in line; cuts only at the walls.
- Diagonal 12%
- Every edge piece is cut at an angle.
- Bookmatch 15%
- Mirrored slabs must line up, so some pieces are set aside.
- Staircase 20%
- Treads and risers are cut into many small pieces.
3. Count the slabs
Most slabs listed on MarbleWala are about 8–10 ft long and 5–6 ft wide, so one slab covers 40–60 sq ft. Every lot lists its own slab size: on a stone's page, open “Will this lot cover my area?” for the exact count.
4. Order from one lot
Natural stone changes shade from lot to lot, so order the whole area from the same lot. The “You need” figure already includes cutting wastage. Add 3–5% more only if you want spare pieces for repairs later.
